Skincare Tips for The Winter

It’s amazing how much your skin can change from season to season and react to the changing climate around you. One day your skin could fair on the oily side and the next day, as soon as we get our first really cold day or snowfall, your skin could start to feel quite dry. Different seasons call for different approaches to your skincare routine and so we’re here to help you with our favourite tips to keep your skin hydrated and glowing all winter long.

Use a Gentler Cleanser
If you’re used to using really harsh cleansers it may be time to switch it up. Gentle cleansers are great for removing dirt, bacteria, and impurities on your face without stripping away all of the moisture in your skin. This is especially important during the winter months when the temperature and dry air can dehydrate your skin. Look for cleansers with other beneficial skin care ingredients as well such as our InflorEssence Facial Cleanser. Formulated with Gotu Kola, Honeybush, aloe vera, and breadfruit flower extract, this facial cleanser will do a whole lot more than just cleanse your face.

Don’t Skip the Serum
Serum is such an essential item in the skincare toolkit and is applied after you cleanse your face and before moisturizing your face. Due to the nature of the molecules in a serum, the formula is able to penetrate deep into your skin, delivering active ingredients and protective properties for the ultimate hydration. This oil-soluble layer also acts as a base that helps to absorb your moisturizer, helping to intensely hydrate your skin in the winter months. If you don’t already use a serum in your routine, the winter is the perfect time to try it out. You will not regret adding a bit of extra moisture to your dry skin.

Take Cooler Showers
Hot shower water tends to strip away the natural moisture in your skin much faster than cooler water. If you’re trying to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized this winter, try taking cooler showers. Also, make sure to apply your ECZTREMA Hand Cream after you dry off. This hand cream is formulated with ceramides to help replenish the skin’s natural moisture barrier which will keep them hydrated and supple all winter long.

Water, Water, Water
When your body, and therefore your skin, is dehydrated, fine lines and wrinkles will be much more visible on your skin. During the dry winter months, it’s even more important to make sure you are staying hydrated.

Double up on Moisturizer
This may seem like an obvious one but it’s worth mentioning anyway. Moisturizing is extremely important in the winter time. We even recommend adding some more moisturizer into your routine than you usually use. The dry winter air is so hard on your skin and by making sure you’re applying lots of facial moisturizer morning and night, you’ll be one step closer to beautiful and silky skin this winter.

Use A Face Mask
Face masks are a great way to add moisture back into your skin during the dry winter months. Look for a hydrating mask that contains ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid that will help to hydrate and plump your skin by keeping moisture and water-soluble active ingredients locked into the skin. Try using our InflorEssence Clarifying Gel Mask 2-3 times a week for best results.
